Two held with drugs, banned injections

CHANDIGARH: In two separate incidents, two persons were arrested by the Chandigarh police while possessing 52.4 grams of smack, banned injections and 110 grams of ganja.

In two separate incidents, two persons were arrested by the Chandigarh police while possessing 52.4 grams of smack, banned injections and 110 grams of ganja.

The accused used to get smack from Delhi and sell it to addicts in Chandigarh and nearby areas.

According to the police, Sukhwinder Singh, a resident of Samrala district, Ludhiana, was arrested from near Neelam Cinema in Sector 17 while possessing 52.4 grams of smack and 8 banned injections. The police said the accused was active in the city for the past sometime. The police got a tip-off about the accused, following which he was arrested. The accused was produced before the court and sent to three-day police remand.

“We want to track the source of drugs,” said a police official. A case has been registered against the accused at the Sector 17 police station and an investigation has been initiated.

In another incident, the Crime Branch arrested Mehraj, a resident of Naya Gaon, Mohali, from near the Civil Secretariat, Sector 1. The accused was carrying 110 grams of charas. A case has been registered at the Sector 3 police station.
