A deputation of residents of Jarol gram panchayat today met Chief Parliamentary Secretary (CPS) and Sundernagar MLA Sohan Lal Thakur and apprised him of the problem of drinking water. They requested him to order the officials of the Irrigation and Public Health Department to solve the issue.

They met him at the PWD rest house here and said thousands of residents of Jarol gram panchayat had been facing water shortage in five villages of the panchayat.

They said due to digging work undertaken for the Kiratpur-Nerchowk-Manali four-laning project, a natural water source was created in the area, but the panchayat allowed only influential persons of the locality to use it. They requested the CPS to order officials of the Irrigation and Public Health Department to make use of the source for a drinking water supply scheme, so that other residents could also benefit from it.

The CPS ordered the officials of the department to design a scheme to solve the problem of water crisis.
