Chamba, June 21

The residents living on the banks of Ravi in the low-lying areas from Bagga Dam to Tadoli, Rajpura and Kiani areas in Chamba district have been warned against carrying out any work, grazing livestock and operating boats as the water of the reservoir of the NHPC’s Chamera-II power station would be released on June 26.

Giving this information here today, the NHPC’s Chamera-II power station General Manager (GM) RP Sharma said the people living downstream the Chamera-II dam had also been cautioned to keep away from the river.

The General Manager said the water would be released to drain out the silt and muck deposited in the reservoir of the power station. The sluice gates of the concrete dam would be opened to release the dam waters, Sharma told.

The boatmen have also been advised to move out their boats from the riverbeds, he said.
