A physical education teacher of Government Senior Secondary School at Sundana village in Rohtak district had to pay a heavy price for scolding a Class XI student who had allegedly misbehaved with a girl student. The student, along with his 15-20 companions, attacked the teacher on the school premises today.

Some students were playing with a ball at the school yesterday. The ball thrown by a boy hit a girl student, who complained to the school principal. The principal asked the physical education teacher to look into the matter.

The physical education teacher, Ombir, reprimanded the Class XI boy and his companions. The boy then called his family members, who argued with the teacher. The matter was settled with the intervention of other teachers. However, the Class XI boy, along with nearly 15-20 youths, assaulted the teacher on the school premises today. Ombir alleged that they hit him with wooden logs and threatened him with dire consequences.

Five booked

The police have registered a case under Sections 147, 148, 186, 332 and 353 of the IPC against five persons, including the Class XI student. The police investigators are ascertaining whether the persons named in the FIR are minor or adult.
