Former Haryana CM revises the schedule of his Jankranti Yatra

Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupender Singh Hooda has amended the schedule of the sixth phase of his  “Jankranti Yatra” in view of the upcoming Monsoon Session of Haryana Assembly.

Changes in the schedule of the proposed four-day Yatra in Kurkshetra were made on Wednesday after Hooda met his supporters here in the last two days. The yatra, which begins on August 9, will kick-start with a rally at Pehowa.

However, proceedings for the next three days have been suspended until the assembly session ends.

Usually, Hooda visits assembly constituencies in the districts concerned as part of the yatra and holds road shows after the rallies.

So far, he has completed the yatra at Hodal ( Palwal), Samalkha ( Panipat), Mahendegarh ( Narnaul), Tohana ( Bhiwani) and  Punhana( Mewat).   

The former chief minister attributed the change to rescheduling of Monsoon Session of  Haryana Assembly following demise of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The session, which was to begin from August 17, will now be convened from September 7.

]Talking to media-persons here, he said that he will further intensify his campaign to highlight the shortcomings of central and the state governments.

“The state government has abdicated its core responsibility of ensuring law and order, basic civic amenities like roads and electricity,” Hooda said, and added the BJP has forgotten all its poll promises.
He said should the Congress was returned to power in the state in the next Assembly elections, electricity tariffs across segments will be reduced to half of the present structure. Also, the monthly old age pension will be increased to Rs 3000, and farmers’ loans would be waived.

Hooda said the farmers feel neglected by the incumbent dispensation. The Centre’s recent announcement of enhancing the MSP of agriculture produce so as to give them 50 per cent profits over their cost input was misleading. The government must calculate the MSP on the basis on comprehensive and inclusive parameters.
