Hisar, October 19

The ongoing Haryana Roadways strike has stirred unemployed youths in the state into activity as drivers and conductors have refused to operate the transport services.

Taking a tough stand, the state government has not only started cracking down on the striking employees but also started the process for recruitment of fresh drivers and conductors.

To make up for the shortage of staff, the state government has requisitioned drivers from various departments to run public transport services. Buses from other departments, private schools and the power plant at Khedar village, Hisar, have been requisitioned to provide transport services.

The Transport Department has started recruitment under the Outsourcing Policy Part-2 across the state.

In view of the rush of aspiring unemployed youths, the department has asked the Employment Department to deploy five Saksham Yuva beneficiaries to assist HR depots in receiving the applications.

Among the huge rush of youths lined up at the HR Depot in Hisar are trained teachers to post-graduates in various subjects. A JBT pass-out, Ashutosh from Gurana village, said that he was pursuing BA after completing a teacher-training course. “I have submitted an application for the post of a conductor. We are fed up with unemployment and don’t want to leave any opportunity to get a job,” he added.

Transport manager, HR, Hisar, Jitender Kumar said that they have directions to receive applications till October 25. “Further process will be undertaken on directions from the state government. We are getting an overwhelming number of applications,” he added.
