Man arrested for raping 7-year-old in Rewari

Gurugram, October 17

A 7-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour while she was on her way back from school on Tuesday afternoon.

A 35-year-old man identified as Raju has been accused of taking the child to nearby fields to rape her. When she came home covered in blood, her migrant parents immediately alerted police and took her to the nearest trauma centre. The suspect was arrested soon after.  

Representatives of the Child Welfare Committee met the child and her family.

The victim’s mother said she knew what had happened as soon as she saw her daughter.

“I could never have imagined a neighbour would do such a thing. The doctors say she's traumatised. I want the accused to be punished severely,” she said.
