Rohtak, June 22

A 14-year-old girl residing in Kalanaur block of the district, who got pregnant after being raped nearly three months ago, has been admitted to the local PGIMS for medical termination of pregnancy (MTP).

The girl, who was threatened with dire consequences by the rapist, did not disclose her ordeal to her family. Her pregnancy was detected when she was taken to a doctor for treatment of typhoid.

A complaint was then lodged with the police. As per the complaint, the girl was called by a neighbour to their house, where she was allegedly raped by another man, Ashok Kumar. The accused has been arrested.

The medical board found that the pregnancy was less than 20 weeks old and could be terminated. District Child Welfare Committee member Pooja said the process for abortion would be completed in a day or so.—TNS
