Illicit liquor unit unearthed

PANIPAT: The CIA-3 team of the police on Friday unearthed an illegal liquor unit engaged in manufacturing and bottling of countrymade liquor.



Panipat, October 19

The CIA-3 team of the police on Friday unearthed an illegal liquor unit engaged in manufacturing and bottling of countrymade liquor.

The unit had been functional in the shed of a non-operational poultry farm in the fields of Binjhol village in the district. The team arrested a truck driver, Anil of Bihar, who brought bottles and quarters to the factory from Delhi while others managed to escape from the spot.

Chhabil Singh, incharge of CIA-3 said the factory was raided on getting specific input about the unit. A team of the Excise Department was present during the raid, he added.

The police seized 1,920 litres of spirit, 3,000 litres of chemical, 2 litres scent of liquor, 32 litres of caramel colour, five plastic drums of 200-litre capacity, 23 cans of 40-litre capacity, one large RO water filter unit and a stock of seals, boxes, labels, stamps and holograms of branded companies, he said.

A case was registered against Sanjeev and his brother Sahil, residents of Bnjhol village, and four accomplices, he added. — TNS
