Sahitya akademi announces Punjabi literature awardees

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Panjabi Sahitya Akademi (HPSA) today announced various awards for outstanding contribution in the field of Punjabi literature from 2013 to 2016.

The Haryana Panjabi Sahitya Akademi (HPSA) today announced various awards for outstanding contribution in the field of Punjabi literature from 2013 to 2016.

Narinder Singh Virk and Ashwani Gupta, deputy chairman and director, respectively, of the HPSA said the Akademi would present the Haryana Punjabi Gaurav Award, carrying a cash component of Rs 2.5 lakh each, for year 2013 to Atamjit Hanspal, for 2014 to Kadarnath Kedar, for 2015 to Ramesh Kumar and for 2016 to Amrit Kaur Raina.

They said that Bhai Santokh Singh Award would be conferred upon Pal Kaur and Jagir Kaur Sandhu for 2013, Sahib Singh Arshi for 2014, Sudarshan Gaso for 2015 and Joginder Kaur Agnihotri for 2016. It carries a cash prize of Rs1.25 lakh.

Nayab Singh Mander, Subeg Saddar, Darshan Singh and Sadhu Singh Kisan would be awarded the Baba Sheikh Farid Puraskar for the year 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016, respectively. The award carries a cash prize of Rs1.11 lakh each.

The Sant Taran Singh Vahimi Award of Rs one lakh would be given to Gurdarpal Singh for 2013, Lakhwinder Singh Bajwa for 2014, Iqbal Singh for 2015 and Manjit Kaur Ambalwi for 2016.

The Ragi/Dadhi/Lok Gayak Award for 2013 would be given to Manjinder Singh, whereas, the same for year 2014, 2015 and 2016 would be bestowed on Karnail Singh Aspal, Gurmukh Singh Wariach and Rinku Kalia, respectively. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 51,000. Similarly, Kavi Harbhajan Singh Rainu Award of Rs 51,000, would be conferred upon Puran Singh Nirala, Haribhajan Singh Raja, Subhash Saluja and Kanwaljit Kaur Juneja, for the year 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016, respectively. The Akademi would present Patrakarita Puraskar prize of Rs 51,000, for the year 2016 to Bhupinder Singh Panniwalia.
