8 Baddi units to lose power

SHIMLA: The Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board (HPSPCB) on Friday ordered disconnection of power supply to eight industrial units in Baddi.

The Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board (HPSPCB) on Friday ordered disconnection of power supply to eight industrial units in Baddi.

These eight units had been operating without obtaining valid consent or renewal of consent of the board as required under the provisions of Section 25 of Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, and Section 21 of Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981.

These units have been directed to stop operation and close down operational activities immediately and not to operate even on DG sets or through any source of energy.

“They have been directed to report compliance, failing which necessary action will be taken against them as per the provisions of the Act,” RK Pruhti, member secretary, HPSPCB, said. 

He added that these units were given ample opportunities to apply for the consent of the board through public notices in newspapers, but they failed to comply with the directions of the board.

The board has disconnected power supply to 202 industrial units across the state to date. The units whose power supply has been disconnected include M/s Anurag Pharmaceutical Pvt Ltd, Phase-I, Jharmajri Baddi, M/s Baba Motors Pinjore Road (near Barrier) Baddi, District Solan, M/s ASA Biotech, Baddi, M/s AR Fastners Khasra, M/s Alexa Biotech Pvt. Ltd, Village Malkumajra PO Bhud, Tehsil Nalagarh, 6 M/s Admac Formulation Village Kotla, Barotiwala, Baddi, M/s Allons 96-97 Modern Complex Sai Road Baddi and Curetech Formulation Pvt Ltd Vill Judikalan, Baddi.
