Shimla, June 5
A cloudburst triggered by rain caused damage in twin villages of Darshal and Matelani in Rampur of Shimla district on Tuesday.
Debris entered some houses and cowsheds as gushing water swept the villages. A house owned by Tara Chand in Matelani and four cowsheds were damaged and plantations over several bighas were destroyed. The tragedy struck around 8:30 am this morning but no loss of life has been reported.
DC Amit Kashyap said two head of cattle were washed away and a water tank was also damaged. The SDM and tehsildar reached the spot to supervise the rescue operations.
