Congress workers paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her 35th death anniversary and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 144th birth anniversary at Rait today.

Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary Kewal Singh Pathania said both leaders had contributed immensely in the national reconstruction and development of the country. He said Gandhi was assassinated by her bodyguards in 1984.

“The nation pays homage to this great stateswoman for her sacrifice in protecting the nation’s security and integrity,” he said. About Patel, Pathania said: “The contribution of the Iron Man in shaping India is unforgettable.” — OC
