Even death couldn’t do them part

Having lived happily together for over 70 years, an old couple of Kohan village under Dharampur Assembly segment in Mandi district bade adieu to the world on Friday.

According to locals, Judhya Devi (85) and Kanshi Ram (92), got married 70 years ago and had often talked of “living and dying together”.

Sajaopiplu gram panchayat pradhan Kamlesh Kumar said Judhya Devi had been keeping unwell for the past few days and passed away on Friday. A shocked Kanshi Ram also breathed his last the same day.

Villagers recalled how the couple were “very supportive of one another right till the end”. The couple have four sons but they chose to live alone. The family members, however, visited them regularly. The funeral was held the same day.
