The Lahaul and Spiti administration on Saturday hired a private chopper to airlift two critically ill patients to Kullu.

The patients were battling for their lives for the past many days. However, 28 patients are still stuck in the tribal district and four of them are critical.

The Tribune had highlighted the plight of the patients who had been stuck in the snowbound Lahaul valley for the past many days.

On the directions of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, the district administration hired a private chopper to airlift one patient from Udaipur and another from Tandi. At Udaipur, the condition of a woman deteriorated after giving birth to a child on Friday.

Udaipur SDM Subhash Gautam said that two critically ill patients had been airlifted to Kullu in a private chopper on Saturday. He said that the National Disaster Management Authority, Delhi, also took stock of the situation for further help. The SDM said that flight schedule had been issued and remaining patients would be airlifted soon. — TNS
