Two elderly persons were brutally murdered by a youth in Tikker tehsil of the Rohru subdivision in Shimla district last night.

Sources said Shubam, a resident of Karmchari of the Rohru subdivision, allegedly murdered Jobnu Ram (94) and Khokinder Poon.

In a complaint to the police, Bishanu Poon, son of Khokinder Poon, alleged that Shubham was spotted coming out of his house with a blood-stained sickle. He immediately ran towards the field and killed his goat with the same weapon and ran away. A case under Section 302 and 429 of the IPC has been registered.

In another complaint, Sharmila Devi, wife of Devi Dass, a resident of Tahtoli village in Rohru, alleged that her father-in-law Jobnu Ram had gone outside the house to urinate and while she was coming back from the cow shed, she saw Shubam pressing the jaws of Jobnu Ram and ripped his throat with a sharp-edged weapon. She shouted and called for her brother-in-law, while Shubam ran away. A case under Section 302 of the IPC has been registered.

The police have detained Shubham and forensic experts have visited the spot. The blood samples of Shubham have been taken which would be matched with the blood stains found at the spot, police sources said.
