Members of Other Backward Classes community today threatened that if the state government fails to implement provision of the 93rd amendment of the Constitution and reservation in Education Act 2006, the people of the community will tender mass resignation from the Congress membership and will be forced to come on the streets and launch a statewide agitation. For all the consequences the state government shall be responsible.

Shrikant Choudhary, state president of the Indian Regional Girth Bhati Chang Mahasaba, expressed resentment alleging that the state government has failed to implement the 93rd amendment of the Constitution by which 27 per cent reservation has been recommended in admissions in government medical, veterinary and other professional colleges and educational institutions in the state.

He said that no reservation was being provided to the OBC students in MBBS, BAMS, BVSc and other professional courses and demanded 27 per cent reservation for OBC students in professional colleges.

Shrikant demanded that there was 12 per cent reservation for gazetted posts for OBCs and 18 per cent for the non-gazetted. This disparity be removed and 18 per cent reservation be provided for both gazetted and non-gazetted posts.

He demanded that the government should adhere to the notification of the GOI of February 13, 2014 regarding the appointment or nomination of the chairmen and members of these institutions.
