Chamba, January 19
The police have seized 718 gram charas (cannabis) in two different cases in Chamba district in the past 24 hours and arrested two persons, the police said here on Saturday.
The police said one person identified as Navdeep Sharma (30) was caught during a routine traffic inspection at the Tunnuhatti police check-point, while he was travelling in a Chamba-Shimla bound bus and recovered 502 gram charas from his possession.
In another incident, Narender Kumar (25) was arrested with 216 gram charas in his carry bag near Bhalei nallah of the district on Friday, the police said.
Accordingly, separate cases under Section 20 of the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused, the police said; adding that further investigation in these cases was on.
