Vehicle loaded with khair logs impounded

The field staff of the Forest Department under the Rey forest range impoundeda vehicle allegedly loaded with khair logs on Friday night while patrolling on the Hatli-Mohali road.

As per information, a forest guard of the Mohali beat got a tip-off that a vehicle loaded with khair logs would be transported out of the state in the night.

A team of the Forest Department swung into action and set up a naka on the road and stopped the vehicle for checking at 11.30 pm. The vehicle driver failed to produce any document relating to the seized khair logs. Basu Kaushal, Divisional Forest Officer, Nurpur, said the department had begun investigating and would take action if any illegality was found in the felling or transporting of the logs.
