Srinagar, July 21

Police here on Friday arrested two persons with over Rs 3 lakh in demonetised currency notes.

A police party during a naka checking apprehended two persons and seized Rs 3.3 lakh in demonetised currency notes from them, a police spokesman said here.

They duo has been identified as Javaid Ahmad Shah, resident of Pampore and Suhail Ahmad Bhat, resident of Sangrama Sopore, he said.

The spokesman said the police have registered a case under section 5/7 of the Specified Bank Notes (cessation of Liabilities) Act 2017 in this regard and produced the accused in the court of chief judicial magistrate, Srinagar. — PTI
