44 bovines rescued in Rajouri, Udhampur

RAJOURI: The Rajouri police rescued 21 bovine animals from smugglers who managed to give them the slip on the intervening night of September 10 and 11.

The Rajouri police rescued 21 bovine animals from smugglers who managed to give them the slip on the intervening night of September 10 and 11.

On specific inputs about three vehicles parked on a roadside loaded with bovine animals, a team from Nowshera police station headed by Inspector Fareed Ahmed under the supervision of Brijesh Sharma, SDPO, rushed to the spot.

The police team found 21 animals loaded in three vehicles. Sources said the drivers and bovine smugglers had abandoned the vehicles after noticing the movement of a police patrol party on the highway.

“All the three vehicles have been seized and an investigation has been started to identify the owners/drivers of the seized vehicles so that the accused can be arrested,” said Yougal Manhas, SSP.

Cases under relevant sections have been registered against the smugglers at Nowshera police station, he added.

Udhampur: The district police rescued 23 bovine animals and arrested a smuggler who was transporting them to the Valley. Sources said a police party headed by the Udhampur SHO laid a naka at Jakhani Chowk and started checking trucks on the highway. The police intercepted a truck and recovered 23 bovine animals. The smuggler driver has been identified as Malkeet Singh of Chatha, Jammu. A case has been registered in this regard.
