In a major goof-up, the examination wing of the University of Jammu (JU) today put hundreds of students in trouble at Government Degree College, Bhaderwah, when it forgot to dispatch the question papers of BBA and BCom, Semester-I (private) to the college.

In a face-saver, the examination wing immediately mailed the question papers to the college authorities that resulted into a delay in the start of the examination by 40 minutes. Irked over the delay, students showed great resentment against the university for its callous approach.

Further, the superintendent of examinations, Prof Mushtaq Ahmed, who is the head of the Persian Department at the college, was “missing” from the examination hall where 107 students were appearing for the examination and only two persons were managing the affairs.

Following complaints, the university authorities rushed a three-member flying squad, headed by Jitender Manhas, head of Computer Sciences Department, Bhaderwah campus of the university, to the college where it found glaring irregularities in the conduct of the examination.

“The superintendent was missing from the scene as he had gone outside for a picnic. He had not handed over the charge to anyone in writing. The packets containing question papers had no signature of the superintendent. Only two persons were controlling 107 students. We have prepared a report which will be submitted to the higher authorities tomorrow,” Manhas told The Tribune.
