To strengthen the cancer care services at the tertiary level, the State Administrative Council (SAC) accorded sanction to the establishment of a separate nuclear medicine department at Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu.

The SAC, under the chairmanship of Governor Satya Pal Malik, also accorded sanction of the creation of 13 posts of various categories, including five posts of faculty members, three posts of medical officers and five of paramedical staff.

By establishing the nuclear department, the GMC will be able to procure PET scan machine, which is required to make State Cancer Institute functional.

The SAC also approved the creation of additional 14 posts of various categories to strengthen the maternity centre at Zakura. It approved upgrade of the sub-centre at Utterbani, Purmandal lock, Jammu, to primary health centre. Nine posts were also approved for the centre.

The council approved the proposal of dispensing with oral tests for the selection of 400 veterinary assistant surgeons. The recruitment to these posts will now be done on the basis of written tests only.

It also approved the Code of Civil Procedure (Amendment) Bill, 2018. The Bill seeks to introduce such provisions to the Code of Civil Procedure, Samvat, 1977, which will help in the disposal of cases in a time-bound manner.

The SAC also gave its nod to the J&K Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions Bill, 2018. The Bill provides for creation of requisite administrative structure for the enforcement of law and empowers the designated authorities to attach and confiscate any ‘benami’ property.
