Jammu, July 15

Sanam Zeeya (24), a Bollywood actress from Kashmir, whose new film ‘Shadi Ke Patase’ is releasing pan India on July 19, said religion and profession should not be inter-mixed as both have their own sanctities.

“There is nothing good or bad, our thinking makes it so,” Zeeya said. She, however, refrained from taking questions on any individual’s personnel perception towards art and religion.

“I forayed into this profession at the age of 10 years and since then have done numerous plays and films as the lead artist. It is my dedication to the profession that has showered me with success as well as recognised other artistes of the state,” Zeeya said while talking to The Tribune from Kashmir.

‘Shadi ke Patase’, directed by Shahid Kazmi, is her fourth Bollywood feature film in the lead role. Earlier, she had acted in ‘Lateef to Laden’ (director Shahid Kazmi), ‘Kashmir Daily’ (director Hussein Khan) and ‘Bed No.17’ (director Mir Sarwar).

Before switching to films, Zeeya had acted in plays such as Habba Khatoon, Lal Ded, Daarden etc. In Jammu, ‘Shaadi Ke Patase’ will release at KC Cineplex on Friday. Besides Zeeya, famous comedian Asrani and Shafugta Ali have also acted in the film, along with a host of local Jammu artistes in various character roles.
