SMC to upgrade 49 dewatering stations

Srinagar: The Srinagar MC will be upgrading 49 dewatering stations even as several city areas face waterlogging woes during rain.



Srinagar: The Srinagar MC will be upgrading 49 dewatering stations even as several city areas face waterlogging woes during rain. "Under the World Bank's financial aid for various projects to be taken under Jhelum and Tawi Flood Recovery Project, tenders have been invited for three projects. In addition, 49 dewatering stations are to be upgraded. They are under bidding process. Further procurement of diesel engine-driven pumpsets along with a towing vehicle at an estimated cost of Rs 5.58 crore is in process," an SMC statement said after a meeting was chaired by SMC Commissioner Riyaz Ahmed Wani here on Saturday.The meeting was held with the SMC's drainage wing officials to review the pace of ongoing civil and drainage projects.

The meeting was informed that Indira Nagar storm water drainage scheme and others at Lal Chowk, Mallagagh, Gangbukh and Shalteng were in progress under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation scheme. "The consultant engaged by the Housing and Urban Development department has already prepared a detailed project report for Naaz Colony, Sonwar; Nadru, Hyderpora; Doodgangah and a few other projects in and around the existing pumping stations," the statement added. tns
