Harpreet Singh, aka Vickey Deol, a resident of Sultanpur Lodhi, who already has his records registered in the India Book of Records and the Asia Book of Records for performing 59 push-ups in one minute on two thumbs, got another feather in his cap by achieving name for himself in the Golden Book of World Records.

Vickey was awarded the title of Golden Book of World Records on November 29 from Alok Kumar, the national head of the Golden Book of World Records, who said, “Deol has performed the push-ups on thumbs in front of the three-panel jury, who accorded the title of world record to him after he broke the record of 54 push-ups on thumbs by doing 69 push-ups in a minute.”

Deol has now become an inspiration for many budding sportspersons worldwide. The 41-year-old now aims to create more records in the coming time and wants to see himself as a youth icon.

He came back from London last month where he was honoured with a memento from Tony Skipper, Lord Mayor of the City of Conventry, after he conducted fitness camps and gave training to people who want a career in the field of sports and martial arts.

He claimed that his name would appear in the list of the Guinness Book of Records soon, as the registered record which claims 54 push-ups on a thumb in a minute, has now been broken by him.

“This was my passion since childhood. I am into fitness for long and have been participating in sports with a passion. When I was in Class III, I had a keen interest in kho-kho and kabaddi and bagged various medals and certificates. At a time when we used to practise sports, we never knew their importance and no one was there to guide me as to where to go and what steps I need to take to get my name registered in the world’s renowned list of sportspersons,” said Vickey Deol.

Sharing his success mantra, he said, “Every person has a spark in him. All you need is to recognise that talent and work hard to shape it. I want youth of India to make country proud in sports, science, technology and every field. One should just remain focused and put in all determination and hard work to achieve his/her goal,” said Vickey, who feels age and challenges of life are nothing when a person is ambitious and dedicated to his dreams.
