Member of Parliament from Brampton in Canada Ramesh Sangha today expressed his ignorance over the decision of the Ontario gurdwaras declaring that they will not allow Indian diplomats to enter the premises.

The MP, who was in city today, tried to get away with the query saying, “I don’t have any knowledge of any such restriction.” This despite the fact that not just Canadian gurdwaras but even those in the US and the UK too have imposed a similar restriction on the Indian officials.

Sangha also said, “I don’t think that such restrictions can be imposed on gurdwaras. There are just a handful of such people who make such announcements and the Indian media blows such issues out of proportion. No one wants Khalistan in Canada and we do not get to hear anything on this there,” said the Liberal Party MP.

A lawyer by profession, Sangha also chose not to react to Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh’s stand on Canada-based radicals trying to vitiate the atmosphere of Punjab. “Since it is his statement, he can better reply on this. My party is not associated with any extremists,” he replied.

He also said, “Canadian PM Justin Trudeau will visit India by February end. His visit will further strengthen Indo-Canadian relations.”
