Congress leader visits flood-hit areas

PHILLAUR: Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary, general secretary, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, along with officials visited Puwari village to take the stock of the situation of the ongoing work to curb fresh breach on the banks of Sutlej river near Phillaur today.

Phillaur, August 23

Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary, general secretary, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, along with officials visited Puwari village to take the stock of the situation of the ongoing work to curb fresh breach on the banks of Sutlej river near Phillaur today.

Chaudhary said sandbags and wire mesh cages were arranged by the state government to prevent further erosion. Vikramjit applauded the team of elderly and youngsters from the nearby villages who helped in safeguarding the embankments at Puwari village.

Davinder Singh Attri DSP, Tapan Bhanot Tehsildar, Sukha Singh SHO Phillaur, Harmesh Lal, Gurpreet Kaur both members Zila Parishad were present.
