Four Royal Enfield Bullet bikes challaned for noise pollution

JALANDHAR: Continuing its drive to control noise pollution by tightening the noose around vehicles with blaring pressure horns, a joint team of the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) and traffic police issued challans to four Royal Enfield Bullet bikes for using multi-tone horns and cracker sound-emitting silencers.

Jalandhar, January 6

Continuing its drive to control noise pollution by tightening the noose around vehicles with blaring pressure horns, a joint team of the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) and traffic police issued challans to four Royal Enfield Bullet bikes for using multi-tone horns and cracker sound-emitting silencers.

A team comprising PPCB’s Junior Environmental Engineer Varun Kumar and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), Traffic Police, Harpreet Singh, checked15 Royal Enfield motorcycles at the Kapurthala chowk.

During the checking, four bullet bikes were issued challans for the violation of noise pollution rules.

An official said the violators would also be issued show-cause notices under Section 31-A of the Air Act, 1981.
