CPI (ML) New Democracy candidate from Kartarpur, Kashmir Singh Ghugshor (37), was high on spirits while submitting his nomination papers today in the office of Returning Officer Varinder Pal Singh Bajwa

Even after unsuccessfully contesting the last two Assembly elections, he said he never felt like losing. He aims to fight vehemently for the rights of downtrodden communities, particularly for getting their rights in the panchayat lands.

Before filing his nomination papers today, Kashmir took out a procession from Desh Bhagat Yadgar Hall to District Administration Complex raising voice for struggles of the oppressed classes.

An ITI diploma holder, Kashmir has shown his bank balance of Rs 1,200. “I have been working for the party for full time, whereas my wife and my father have been working as MGNREGA and farm labourers. I have around Rs 10,000 cash with me and I have Rs 1,200 sum in the bank,” said Kashmir. “I have always been working on issues that directly relate to oppressed sections of the society like free electricity for the poor, discrimination being faced by the Dalits, getting land to construct residence and getting their rights in the panchayat land. I will keep on working until the socio-economic equality prevails,” he added.

He said that all capitalist parties including SAD, BJP, Congress and AAP had been showing unrealistic dreams to the people, yet they had no planning to bring about the change.
