Jalandhar, June 14

The Khel Udyog Sangh Jalandhar is setting an example in the city by extending a helping hand to the needy people who are in dire need of money.

The traders and manufactures under the Khel Udyog Sangh have been helping people since June 8 under the “help week” that concluded today.

The president of the Sangh Ravinder Singh said the idea was to provide financial help to those who could not afford to pay for themselves.

On June 8, members gave an amount of Rs 31,000 to children of a daily wage worker Dilip Kumar of Basti Bawa Khel. Priya (4) and Mayank (3) are suffering from some disease that even doctors have not been able to figure out. The family has already spent a lot of money and now the children are getting treatment at the PGI, that is why the Sangh helped the family, members said.

The Sangh also helped Mayank Sharma who is in coma for the past six months by giving his family Rs 20,000. Mayank Sharma’s mother told the members that he had met with an accident after which he was in coma. “Lakhs of money have been spent on the treatment of her child, but nothing has improved,” the mother said.

In another case, members have given an amount of Rs 20,000 to Narinder Prabhakar, who has been suffering from a disease in which he has lost his 28 kg.

Ravinder Dhir, president of the Sangh, said he was terminally ill and by helping his family, they had done their bit.

Today, the Khel Udyog also helped the daughter of an economically poor family who is getting married next month by providing them ration ahead of the marriage.

Dhir said these acts gave them a sense of relief that they had helped some people who were suffering.
