MLA gets stone of project laid by elderly resident

HOSHIARPUR: As Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh initiated a drive to eliminate the VIP culture, Chabbewal MLA Raj Kumar took it further by getting the inauguration of a project done by an elderly resident of his constituency on Sunday.

As Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh initiated a drive to eliminate the VIP culture, Chabbewal MLA Raj Kumar took it further by getting the inauguration of a project done by an elderly resident of his constituency on Sunday.

At Chabbewal village, for the inauguration of a new tube well bore an elderly person of Mehar Chand village was invited as the chief guest who laid the foundation stone.

This gesture of Dr Raj was appreciated by those who were present. When the bore got completely dry, Dr Raj got the new tubewell worth Rs 23.5 lakh sanctioned and the construction work started in a record time.

After his request, Capt Amarinder waived off Rs 3 lakh contribution of village residents that was required as per rules.

Two other residents Dilbag Singh Bagi and Surinder Singh Sakhia were also honoured for their attempts to save the village from a water crisis.

Since the bore went dry, Bagi was giving water supply to the village from his personal tubewell and had been doing the same till the new tube well gets operational. Sakhia is providing water needed in the construction of a new bore from his personal tubewell. While appreciating them, Dr Raj said people should follow them and honour their positive contribution in government projects.

Dr Raj said in his constituency, a new tube well at Rampur is operational and the construction work is started at Halluwal. Besides, three more tubewells for Kalewal Bhagtan, Lalwan and Jaitpur are also approved and the bore work will start shortly there too.

He said working for the development of his constituency was his foremost priority and he would not leave any stone unturned for the purpose.

Dr. Jatinder Kumar, Sonia, NRI Gurmail Gill, Karamjit Parmar, Shivranjan Romy, Dr. Pal, Jaspal Singh, Jivan Sasoli, Harjinder Kaur, Sukhwant Singh, Jasjit Kaur were among those others present.
