General category voters to support BJP in Hoshiarpur

In a significant development General Samaj Manch (GSM) and General Categories Welfare Federation have demanded to set up ‘National Commission for the welfare of general category’ at the national and state level commissions to protect the rights of the general category.

Talking to mediapersons here today, chief organiser of the federation, Shyam Lal Sharma, GSM state president Fateh Singh Parhar and state general secretary Girish Sharma announced to support the BJP candidate Som Parkash in Hoshiarpur parliamentary constituency.

They said the Congress candidate Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal worked against the general category in Phagwara in the infamous communal clashes which occurred last year. While the AAP candidate Dr Ravjot Singh and BSP candidate Khushi Ram could not be assessed in the race.

They opposed the caste-based reservation and demanded the reservation only for economically weaker sections and to review the rotation for reservation of assembly and Lok Sabha seats.
