Three-day annual cultural fest at LPU concludes

PHAGWARA: Three-day annual mega cultural diversity celebrations, conducted at Lovely Professional University (LPU) campus concluded with ‘One India-2019’ festival today.

Three-day annual mega cultural diversity celebrations, conducted at Lovely Professional University (LPU) campus concluded with ‘One India-2019’ festival today.

The day proved celebrative and informative with peculiar presentation of hundreds of Indian festivals, rituals, cultures, traditions, businesses, achievements.

As many as 10,000 student from 29 states, seven Union Territories of India and a total of 50 countries participated in the event.

During this 10th session of ‘One India’ fest, celebrating the theme of ‘Trade, commerce and industry, LPU students exhibited well India as the fast emerging super economic power of the world by mastering in all fields of global skills.

The most important point of the fest remained that students not only represented their own state but other states also to showcase ‘Unity in diversity’.

International students also participated in the event, along with their Indian counterparts to imbibe great Indian ideologies and culture.

Prominent judges from diverse fields rated the various fest-oriented activities of the students to encourage their best of participation and global culture adoption.

LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal congratulated all students and their mentors for displying common and strong thread of unity amid diversity.

By visiting individual stall, LPU pro-chancellor Rashmi Mittal; director general HR Singla and other university officials inspired students to stand united in all endeavours for the betterment of the community, country and the world.

During concluding hours music and dance programmes—‘Sur dhara’ and ‘Jhoomo Re’, LPU students showcased folk songs and dances, decorated dresses,including historical and cultural aspects of their respective region.

A total of 150 exhibition and food stalls and 50 folk music and dance performances depicted magnanimity of oneness among all.

The annual university fests—’One India’ and ‘One world” are celebrated every year on the campus of LPU to let diverse students feel the importance of unity by all means.

Results for One India celebrations

The first prize was won by School of Electronics and Electrical Engineering for representing Telangana. Two second prizes were won by School of Mechanical Engineering for representing Kerala and School of Agriculture for representing Punjab.

Three third prizes were bagged by Directorate of Distance Education for Karnataka; Mittal School of Business for representing Andhra Pradesh; and School of Computer Science Engineering for Nagaland.

Results for One World celebrations

The first Prize was won by School of Architecture and Design for representing Sri Lanka. Two second prizes were bagged by Directorate of Distance Education for representing Nigeria and School of Polytechnic for representing DR Congo.

Three third prizes were clinched by School of Hotel Management for Yemen, School of Civil Engineering for representing Bhutan and School of Computer Science Engineering for Afghanistan.
