Two youths, cyclist killed in Hoshiarpur mishaps

Hoshiarpur, September 3

Three persons were died in two road accidents in Hoshiapur.

Two youths were killed while two others were seriously injured in an accident on the local Haryana Road near Baghpur village on Sunday night. They were returning to Kangmai village from Hoshiarpur after celebrating a friend’s birthday.

The accident occurred when the car, in which they were travelling in, collided with a truck. The deceased were identified as Sat Sarup, a resident of Mehngrowal, and Kajarnveer Singh of Kangmai village.

The injured were identified as Parminder Singh, alias Gona, a resident of Lehal village, and Ludhiana resident Gagandeep Singh. They injured were taken to the local Civil Hospital from where doctors referred Gona to the DMC, Ludhiana, due to his serious condition while Gagandeep was also referred to a specialty hospital.

All four friends had come to Hoshiarpur to attend a birthday party of a friend. While returning to Kangmai village, a truck that was coming from the Jammu side towards Hoshiarpur, came from the opposite side and collided with their car. Sat Sarup and Karanveer died on the spot. Passers-by pulled the injured out of the badly damaged car and took them to the Civil Hospital. As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot and started an investigation in the matter. The body of the deceased were sent to the Civil Hospital for the post-mortem examination.

In another accident, a cyclist died and another person injured after being hit by a truck near Giganowal on the Hoshiarpur-Tanda main road. The deceased was identified as Ramji, a resident of Husainpur Guru, while the injured as Ramesharan, a resident of Fatehpur village. The Bullowal police reached the spot and sent the injured to the Civil Hospital. The body of the deceased has been sent to the hospital for the autopsy.

The relatives of the deceased said Ramji and Ramsharan were going on their bicycle when a speeding truck hit them. Ramji was crushed under the wheels of the truck.

After the accident, the truck driver escaped from the spot with the vehicle. The police have started investigation in the matter. A case has been registered. — OC
