Why Congress leaders who used to stage dharnas and protest while demanding to put an end to illegal mining at the time of the SAD-BJP government are silent now. Why they don’t speak when the prices of sand and gravel had already increased three times as compared to those in the past? Former Cabinet Minister Bikram Singh Majithia stated this in a press meet at the residence of Jathedar Kirpal Singh, the chief sewadar of Guru Nanak Sewa Society in Gera village.

He had come to the place to participate in a religious function.

Majithia said, “Along with the Kandi region, in the entire Punjab, the Congress had campaigned making false allegations of illegal mining before the elections and had created a false propaganda against the SAD. The real faces of those who shouted on the issue are now revealed. In the Kandi area, there is evidence of illegal mining happening at a higher level than ever before.”

He said crushers in Hajipur and Talwada blocks are being used for illegal mining at higher levels than ever before. The SAD will soon expose Congress leaders involved in mining.

Majithia said the Congress had made false promises of stopping illegal mining, eliminating drug addiction from the state, giving jobs to a person from every household and waiving off farmers’ debts. But since the formation of the its government in the state, how many of these had fulfilled so far. People were aware about it.

He said the false face of the Congress government has come in front of people of the state in two years. Every section of Punjab is unhappy with the Congress government at this time as it had failed to fulfill promises made with people.

Instead, the government is harassing teachers by trying to cut their salaries.

Former minister Arunesh Shakir, former zila parishad chairman Sarbjot Singh Sabi, Kamal Chaudhary, Lakhwinder Singh Timmy, CV Singh, Mukerian, Jangi Lal Mahajan, Anil Vashish, Ashwani Chadha, Manjit Singh, Gurdeep Singh, samiti members Rajvinder Kaur, Harmeet Singh Kollpur, Narinder Kaushal Hajipur and Advocate Rajguljinder Singh Talwara, besides a large number of SAD-BJP leaders, were among those others present.
