‘Fashion is incomplete without confidence’

Namya Saraf always harboured the dream of becoming an actor and she started her journey by walking the ramp. From participating in a beauty pageant and winning the runner-up title to modelling for jewellery and clothing brands, today she is known as the face of Punjabi song Gal Doohan Vich by Sajjan Adeeb. 

As one thing leads to another, this 25-year-old model is now living her dream of playing an important role in a biopic on Punjabi singer Kuldeep Manak. 

How did you get your first assignment?

It was the national award winning short film Shama-e-Kashmir. I auditioned for it and got selected.

Which has been the most interesting shoot so far? 

I can safely say it is the song, Gal Doohan Vich, because it gave me popularity. 

Given a chance, you would want to walk the ramp for which designer? 

It would be Manish Malhotra for the way he blends contemporary and ethnic styles.

If not modelling, then.... 

I would have either pursued an MBA in HR or Mass Communication.

A fashion tip for youngsters...

Style is a matter of confidence, so no matter what you wear, it’s incomplete without confidence.

Your daily routine looks like.... 

I start my day at 6.30 am and begin it with an hour-long meditation. Then I get ready for my theatre classes and on days when I don’t have the class, I help my father with his business. I spend some time working on my Punjabi as I want to be famous in the industry. 

Healthy snacks you munch on... 

Lotus seeds and peanuts.

To a formal dinner you’ll wear... 

Black or a dark shade bodycon dress with pencil heels.

Must-haves in your wardrobe... 

White shirt, a pair of regular blue jeans, boyfriend jeans and the LBD.

In casuals, your pick would be... 

A skater dress.

You aspire to be... 

A good actor in Punjabi film industry and make a name for myself.
