Four more notices have been served on the Congress for violation of model code of conduct. One notice each has been issued from the Khanna and Jagraon constituencies and two from the Atam Nagar constituency. The party has been asked to file a reply within 24 hours.

Thirtysix notices have been served on various parties to date, of which the Congress gets a maximum of 24.

On Saturday, a rally was held by the Congress at Jagraon. The party was served a show-cause notice and asked to explain if all necessary permissions were taken before holding the rally.

“A notice has been served on the District Congress (Rural) chief, Karanjit Singh Galib, whereby he has been asked to explain if permission was taken before holding the public rally,” said Baljinder Singh Dhillon, Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) for Jagraon constituency.

Similarly, one notice has been served upon the Congress from the Khanna constituency.

“Some citizens uploaded a video alleging that a public property is being damaged by the party people. We have also sent a letter to the EO in this regard and served a notice on the DCC president,” said Sundeep Singh Garha, ARO for Khanna constituency.

Garha said a team visited the site but they found no signs of damage to the property. However, a notice was issued to the party. An election office was opened by the party at Khanna yesterday.

Two notices have been served on the Congress from the Atam Nagar constituency for illegally pasting posters.

Manjit Singh Cheema, ARO from Atam Nagar constituency, said two notices had been served on the Congress for pasting posters sans proper details. The posters need to carry the details about their printer, mobile number and the number of posters printed so that expenditure can be accounted for.

Ashwani Sharma, DCC president, said they had replied to all notices received by them.
