Gang of vehicle lifters busted, 16 stolen bikes recovered

LUDHIANA: The Ghumar Mandi police post have busted a gang of vehicle lifters and recovered 16 stolen vehicles from their possession.

The Ghumar Mandi police post have busted a gang of vehicle lifters and recovered 16 stolen vehicles from their possession. The police have also recovered one three-wheeler and dozens of keys of various motorcycles from the gang.

The suspects have been identified as Amritpal Singh Rinku of Ishar Nagar, Sanjiv Kumar of Pavitar Nagar and Basant Sahni of Amrit Colony. Sahni was a junk dealer, who used to sell stolen vehicles by finding clients.

Ghumar Mandi police post in charge Jaskaran Singh said a tip-off was received about the suspects running a vehicle lifters gang. The suspects had stolen dozens of vehicles in the recent past, he added.

The suspects were arrested at a naka near Tagore Nagar in the city, he said.

The gang had stolen more than 100 two-wheelers in the past eight months, which they gave to junk dealer, he added.

The suspects had prepared various types of keys to steal two-wheelers, he said while adding that more stolen vehicle could be recovered in a further probe.
