Ludhiana: International Peace Day was celebrated at the Malwa Central College of Education for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana. Students of MEd and BEd delivered speeches to emphasise the importance of peace in society followed by a pledge-taking ceremony. The students promised to make individual efforts to bring about peace in the society. To sensitise public, a rally was also organised. Princiapl of the college, Naginder Kaur and Sukhdev Singh Sandhu, Director of the Physical Education Department, organised the whole programme and elaborated the need of peace in our life.

Freshers’ party at GNIMT

The students’ Chapter of Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) of Guru Nanak Institute of Management & Technology (GNIMT), Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, Ludhiana, organised a freshers’ party on the premises of the Institute for post graduate classes. The programme commenced with a welcome dance by students of host classes followed by a cultural programme performed by the senior students of the institute. The students exhibited their talent and skills in songs, group dance, bhangra, giddha and skit. The newly admitted students were introduced through modelling on the ramp. Main attraction was ‘Mr Fresher’ and ‘Miss Fresher’ in the PG courses. From boys section, Gursimrat Singh Dhaliwal of the MCA was declared as ‘Mr Fresher’ and from girls section, Avneet Kaur of the MBA was crowned as ‘Ms Fresher’.

Students encouraged to imbibe leadership qualities

The GGNIMT (Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management & Technology ), Civil Lines, constituted Thinker’s Forum - a platform for the students to raise cognitive ability, promote readership , discuss and dialogue, encourage diverse reading habits and sensitise the youth to ‘think’ about social welfare. The Forum organized ‘i-think’ – a movie viewing and discussion activity. Prof Manjit Singh Chhabra, Director, GGNIMT, said the event intended to guide the students about the importance of planning, decision making, self- realisation and fearlessness in a novel way . He said the students must be taught to face challenges in life and should be able to choose between hopelessness and faith.
