Judoka Yoshita takes first step to join armed forces

Ludhiana, July 19

Yoshita Sabharwal, a student of DAV Public School, Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar branch, hogged the limelight again. Yoshita has won a number of medals in judo and now she has brought fame to her alma mater as the gritty judoka has been selected for the prestigious Mai Bhago Armed Force Preparatory Institute, Mohali.

The institute provides facilities and trains girls to join defence services. Yoshita cleared the written test, interview round and physical test conducted by the institute to qualify for the main interview session conducted by a panel and came out one of the lucky 25 students selected to join the institute out of thousands of aspirants.

As a trainee in the institute, Yoshita will be getting enrolled for her graduation course in MCM DAV College, Chandigarh, while preparing for joining the defence services and serve nation.

Yoshita has been playing judo for the past five years during which she won accolades, which include five gold medals in the cluster championships, three gold and two silver medals in zonal championships, besides participating in five DAV National Judo Championships, wherein she bagged a bronze medal.

Yoshita has been the winning face in the district and state championships, organised by the Education Department. She also took part in the Punjab Rural Championship in addition to the DAV and SGFI tournaments.

This judoka has proved her mettle in the game and the classroom to walk to glory and emerged as a model for others.

Principal Jaswinder Kaur Sidhu congratulated Yoshita on her selection and her family. She advised Yoshita to continue with her winning spree and bring laurels to the family and the school and get selected into armed forces.
