Annoyed with the apology tendered by Aam Aadmi Party National Convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to former Akali minister Bikramjit Singh Majithia, the lone Municipal Councillor of AAP in Jagraon Municipal Council, Davinderjit Singh Sidhu, has resigned from the party. Sidhu represented Ward No. 5.

Announcing his resignation from the party, Sidhu said Kejriwal’s decision to tender an apology to Bikramjit Singh Majithia had left AAP volunteers and workers disappointed.

“Arvind Kejriwal always talked about taking all party decisions after consulting party workers and volunteers but he did not consult any worker or leader before taking such an important decision,” said Sidhu.

He said huge resentment prevailed among the party volunteers and supporters over Kejriwal’s action. “Arvind Kejriwal has made a wrong decision. The people of Punjab, who gave overwhelming support to AAP during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and Punjab Assembly elections last year, are feeling cheated,” said Sidhu.

Meanwhile, speculations are rife about political future of Sidhu. In fact, he started his political career with the BJP. He remained a BJP councillor for two terms before switching to AAP only a few months prior to the Assembly elections. Now, speculations are rife that Sidhu might again join the BJP.  But keeping in view his proximity with the ruling Congress, it is being said Sidhu might join hands with the Congress as well.

However, Sidhu said he was yet to take a call on his future. “I have not taken any decision in this regard so far. I will speak to my supporters and voters of my ward before taking any decision about my political future,” said Sidhu.
