National Yoga Sports Championship

Ludhiana: The Everest National Sports Academy in association with the Yoga Society of Punjab organised the 1st National Yoga Sports Championship on the January 25 and 26 at Ludhiana.  Students of Manav Rachna International School added another feather to its cap. Persistence, in combination with perseverance and right guidance helped the children achieve good results and win the overall champion trophy. The position holders in the competition will be participating in the International Yoga Championship to be held in Bulgaria in the month of June.

BVM Public School

Students of BVM Public School showcased their yoga skills at Open National Yoga Championship held on January 25 at Delhi Public World School. More than 250 Yoga champions from different states participated in it. The students of BVM bagged 19 medals in all. Geet (Class II) clinched Gold, Kavya (Class V) notched one Silver and one Gold. Kismat, Pranav, Jashan, Kuldeep, Kunal and Gaurav of class IV got Gold Medals respectively (U-10 Age Category). Karan (class VII) and Raghav (classVIII) won one Gold and one Silver U-13 category. Kunal grabbed one Silver and one Bronze. Om and Lovish got Bronze Medal in U-17 category. The students also paid tribute to Lala Lajpat Rai Ji, the Punjab Kesari of India. 

Students visit Bird Sanctuary

To impart knowledge about a variety of birds and the eco-system, DCM Presidency School organised an outdoor venture to Harike Pattan Bird Sanctuary for the students of Class XI on Sunday. The activity of bird watching was conducted under the ISA action plan with the objective of making students learn about the habitats, adaptations, migrations and breeding periods of the birds found in India, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. A group of 42 students of Class XI, along with senior coordinator Ashok Gupta and four teachers went to the famous bird sanctuary of northern India and spent the day in the lap of nature.

Lala Lajpat Rai remembered

Green Land Convent School, New Subhash Nagar celebrated the birth anniversary of ‘Lala Lajpat Rai’, the great freedom fighter of our country. The main motive to celebrate this day was to remind the students about his contribution to the Indian Freedom struggle.  On this day, the school organised a special assembly. Inspirational speeches were conducted by the students and teachers narrating the significance of the day. The students were told that Lala Lajpat Rai was given the title of ‘The Lion of Punjab’ and he was one of the three extremist members of the Indian National Congress who sacrificed their lives for the independence of the country.
