LUDHIANA: Hosts Ludhiana got the better of Patiala to emerge champions in the 14th Senior Punjab State Baseball Championship for Women that concluded at Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Gill village, near here today.

Hosts Ludhiana got the better of Patiala to emerge champions in the 14th Senior Punjab State Baseball Championship for Women that concluded at Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Gill village, near here today.

In the final contest, Ludhiana players warded off stiff resistance from their opponents before wrapping up the issue 10-6 and fetched the winners’ trophy.

Ludhiana captain Prabhjot Kaur and Kuljeet Kaur accounted for two runs each while Sandeep Kaur and Jassi Kaur chipped in with one run each.

For the losing side, Anjali and Luxmi scored two runs each to reduce the victory margin.

In the match to decide third position, Ropar overpowered Amritsar 1-0 to finish at the victory podium. Sadhana scored the winning run, which sealed Amritsar’s fate.

Harbir Singh Gill, president of the Ludhiana District Baseball Association, gave away prizes to the position holders. Coaches and office-bearers of the Punjab Baseball Association were present on the occasion.
