SAI Centre, Patiala emerge champions

LUDHIANA: The Sports Authority of India (SAI) Centre, Patiala, warded off stiff resistance from Khadoor Sahib Academy, Tarn Taran, before scrambling past 1-0 to lift the winners’ trophy in the 65th Punjab State Inter-School Hockey Tournament for Boys U-19 which concluded at the Astroturf Stadium of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) here today.

The Sports Authority of India (SAI) Centre, Patiala, warded off stiff resistance from Khadoor Sahib Academy, Tarn Taran, before scrambling past 1-0 to lift the winners’ trophy in the 65th Punjab State Inter-School Hockey Tournament for Boys U-19 which concluded at the Astroturf Stadium of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) here today.

In the match for the hard-line cup, Malwa Hockey Academy, Ludhiana, outwitted SGPC Hockey Academy 3-1 to secure third position.

As many as 27 teams vied for top honours in this five-day tourney organised by the Punjab Education Department.

Rupinder Singh Ravi, state organiser, and Swaranjit Kaur, District Education Officer, distributed prizes among winners. — OC
