Residents of Jand, Jurahan and Ranguwal villages on Monday staged a protest against frequent power cuts.

They urged the authorities in the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) to ensure uninterrupted power supply at least during summer days.

The Sub Division Officer at Pakhowal village said maintenance work was the main reason behind the power cuts and scheduled cuts were allowed for installation of new poles and replacement of conductors by employees of contractors undertaking the strengthening work.

Residents led by Hakam Grewal lamented that despite repeated complaints, the authorities at the PSPCL office had failed to provide uninterrupted power supply. The power failure in these areas has made the lives of residents, including patients miserable.

“While consumers have got loads sanctioned according to their need of running air conditioners and desert coolers, electricity is not available during day time,” said Grewal saying that strengthening work should be rescheduled according to weather.
