The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Badal, who held a workers meet at Sahnewal today said the Congress government has completely wiped off the prosperity brought by the SAD-BJP alliance in the state.

“Assurances to farmers have turned false, factory workers are in deplorable condition and teachers are pleading for regular jobs. The Congress party has made a blunder by discontinuing and nullifying fruitful schemes run by the SAD-BJP alliance. No scheme of the government has met with success. Atta Dal scheme has been stopped. Electricity bills have jumped by 30 per cent,” said Badal.

“If teachers were to be beaten like this, what remains behind? This was the worst thing that could have happened in Punjab. Introduction of new taxes, increased power rates and non-functional social welfare schemes, is the reward given to residents by the ruling party,”added Badal.

Former minister and Sahnewal MLA Sharanjit Singh Dhillon said the Congress government has come out with practically nothing. “Attack on teachers in a democratic set up cannot be forgiven by any one. The entire town knows about revolution brought here when the Akalis ruled. The Congress leaders have been fighting amongst themselves and are depriving people of basic amenities,” said Dhillon.

Chief spokesman Youth Akali Dal and member core committee SAD Simarjit Dhillon, Baba Jagroop Singh, Harcharan Singh Jiyonewal and Karamjit Singh Khasi, among others, were also present on the occasion.
