SSP honours kin of martyrs in Khanna

KHANNA: Police Commemoration Day was observed at the SSP office in Khanna to pay homage to the police martyrs belonging to Khanna Police Distict which laid down their lives during terrorism in the state.

Police Commemoration Day was observed at the SSP office in Khanna to pay homage to the police martyrs belonging to Khanna Police Distict which laid down their lives during terrorism in the state.

The programme was chaired by SSP Khanna GS Grewal, along with other police officials of Khanna Police District, in which tributes were paid to martyrs and their family members were also honoured.

The SSP, in his address, said 37 police personnel of belonging to Khanna Police District had laid down their lives while fighting for the state during black days and he assured the all families of martyrs that Khanna Police will stand with them during their problems.

The SSP, along with SP(H), SP(D), SP(BOI) and other senior officials paid tributes to the martyrs with flowers and honoured their families. Later, the SSP heard the problems of affected families and directed the officials concerned to solve the matters on the spot. The demands of the affected families included increase in pension to Home Guard Jawan’s families (currently Rs 5000 per month). They demanded that the pension should be Rs 10,000 per month so that they could be able to fend their families.

The SSP also directed the officials to make arrangements for providing private jobs to the affected family members although one family member of almost all affected families had already got jobs in most of the cases. SP tejinder Singh Sandhu, SP Jagwinder Singh Cheema, SP Surinderjit Kaur and other concerned officials of Khanna Police District were also present on the occasion.
