Ludhiana, December 10

The students appearing for various competitive examinations need not worry now even if their semester exams clash on the particular date.

This time and perhaps for the first time, the Panjab University, Chandigarh, has relaxed its condition. The authorities have agreed to provide another chance to such students, whose exam dates clash with the competitive exams. Not just that, students with serious medical problems or the ones representing sports (conditions apply) will also be given chance to take their exam on another date given by the PU. And the step taken by the university has been appreciated by the students as well as faculty members and other academicians.

Talking to The Tribune, Principal SCD Government College, Dr Dharam Singh Sandhu said realising the difficult situation, the students face, the PU authorities have relaxed the condition. The students will be given yet another date by the university to take their exam in case on the particular date, they have to appear for competitive examinations. “Apart from that, the PU is also considering students with serious medical conditions and those representing sports at higher levels (depending on prescribed conditions). All such students can take the particular exam again,” said Dr Sandhu.

Senior faculty member Dr Ashwani Bhalla said, “Earlier, when exams used to clash, students had to face difficult times. Many times they had to miss the exam. But this time, they will have to send an application to the PU authorities, providing reason and proof of the problem and then they will be given another date for appearing in the exam, which is appreciable.

The semester exams in colleges started from December 2 and these will last till December 24. During the exam, there are dates for many competitive exams and students will face no problem as another chance will be given to them by the PU.
