Ludhiana: The Meharban police have booked two persons on the charge of illegal mining.



Ludhiana: The Meharban police have booked two persons on the charge of illegal mining. The accused have been identified as Ajaib Singh and Anoop Singh, both residents of Chuharwal village. The police said they received a tip off that two persons were standing along with their tractor-trailers loaded with sand mined illegally. Accordingly a raid was conducted and the vehicles were seized. However, the accused managed to flee from the spot, added officials.

Teenage girl goes missing

A 17-year-old girl has gone missing from her school under mysterious circumstances. In a complaint, her father Parvinder Singh, a resident of Guru Nanak Nagar, stated to the police that his daughter had gone to school on August 21, but she did not return home. He suspected that some unknown person might have kidnapped her by luring her for marriage. The police launched a manhunt to trace the girl and nab the accused. 

3 held with 20-gm heroin

The Hambran police have nabbed three drug peddlers and recovered 20-gram heroin from them. They have been identified as Roop Singh Roopa of Bhodey village, Jalandhar; Balwinder Singh Binder of Maniawal, Ludhiana; and Shamsher Singh Shera of Kal Raoun, Ferozepur. Manjit Singh, in charge of the police post, said a naka was laid at Gonsgarh village and on suspicion, three bike-borne were stopped for checking. During their search, the police recovered narcotics from their possession. TNS
